Remembering Steve Cooke

Updated: Jan 2, 2021

The Anchorians family is mourning the loss of one its volunteer workforce, Steve Cooke. Steve was the Assistant Manager for the U13 Archers, who sadly passed away on Boxing Day from COVID. Steve was 35, and leaves behind his partner and 4 young children.

Steve was a kind and generous person, giving up his time to support the team over the past 6 years, always with a smile on his face. Steve always went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that everyone can play football in a fun, friendly environment. He would be up the club 4 times a week and texting the team coaches group chat daily with new ideas and suggestions. Steve would be at every training session and match, even if his son couldn’t attend he would still be there, showing what a true grassroots hero he was. Steve is a big part of the Anchorians Archers and will be dearly missed by all.

As a club we have set up Memorial donation page to help support the family during this difficult time, please share this with your social groups.

James Harrison, the manager of the Archers, who became a close friend to Steve after working with him for 6 years with the team, paid a fitting tribute on BBC One’s South East News, video below.

Our thoughts and sympathies are with his family during this difficult time.
