Steve Cooke Charity Shield

This year's May Bank Holiday saw the long awaited return of our annual Charity Shield fundraising football match which, this year, was renamed the Steve Cooke Charity Shield after the sad and sudden loss of Steve, our U14 Archers Assistant Manager, from Covid-19 on Boxing day 2020.

Steve was a dedicated Partner, Father, Coach, and was much loved by all; the decision to raise funds for the continued support towards Steve's family was an obvious one for Anchorians members.

Our Parents vs Coaches charity shield games have raised over £20,000 since 2013, and our 2022 teams were looking to raise as much as they possibly could this year.

Current shield holders, The Parents, led by U14 Tigresses Manager Wes Webb, managed to hold onto the shield with a nail biting 4-2 win. The Coaches team, managed by Anchorians Head Coach James Harrison, are going to have to wait another year for a chance of silverware!

We were delighted to have raised over £4000 on the day, and were honoured to have Steve's eldest son, pictured above with the teams, there to present the medals and shield. A huge thank you to our supporters, players, coaches, and extended Anchorians families who came along to the day, as well as the amazing volunteers who ran the event and made it happen.
